How do I get started with the KDS?

Why is my expediter screen stuck on a loading message?

If the device is stuck loading anything within Toast, you might need to perform just the normal troubleshooting processes. Confirm that the device is online by checking the passcode page for the Offline Mode banner. You can attempt to re-sync orders on the device. Finally, if none of the above works, make sure to perform a long cycle and a power cycle on the device.

How do I set up my KDS to not print tickets?

Restaurants using the Kitchen Display System may not want to have tickets printed. To set up the printers for the KDS, take the following steps on Toast Web:

      1. Navigate to Kitchen > Printers, tickets, & KDS devices > Kitchen and ticket setup.

      2. In the Expediter section, find the Printing Mode setting.

      3. Select Only print expediter tickets when Toast is in offline mode.

      4. Save and publish your changes.

How to set up an expediter to print after second level fulfillment?

To set up your expediter printer to print after second level fulfillment, take the following steps:

      1. Navigate to Kitchen > Printers, tickets, & KDS devices > Kitchen and ticket setup.

      2. For the Two-Level Fulfillment setting, select Two levels.

      3. Set the device as a KDS.

      4. Set the device with two-level fulfillment.

      5. Navigate to Device Setup on your KDS.

      6. Select Auto-print fulfilled tickets.

      7. Set the printer you would like to print the fulfillment ticket.

How do you enable double-tap to fulfill/unfulfill?

      1. To configure your restaurant’s Double Tap to Fulfill/Unfulfill setting, begin by navigating to Device Setup, found in the Kitchen Display Screen section of your Toast device.

      2. Select/deselect Enable double-tap to unfulfilled tickets.

        1. Note: Enabling this feature will allow you to quickly revert a fulfilled ticket to an unfulfilled status with two taps on the screen

      3. Select Continue.

Is there a way to get item quantity on kitchen tickets instead of the same item showing more than once?

    1. In Toast Web, navigate to Front of house > Order screen setup > UI options.

    2. In the Order screen section, scroll down to the Consolidate menu items setting and ensure that it is toggled On.

    3. Save and publish changes if applicable.

Are we able to send individual tickets to the KDS without a physical ticket being printed off?

Why is my KDS not showing tickets?

      1. On your KDS, navigate to the Device Setup.

      2. Check Prep Stations assigned to the KDS.

      3. Check Non-printing prep stations.

      4. Check the filters set on the device in Device Setup.

      5. Check Device Groups.

      6. Force stop.

      7. Power cycle.

      8. Resync orders.

      9. Resync ALL data.

      10. Ensure you have POS setup permissions.

      11. Clear data.

Note: Check the device's online status before running a re-sync or clearing data.

Why can't I get to KDS Mode on my KDS?

You need to be subscribed to the Kitchen Display Screen Software product to activate KDS Mode on a KDS. Check your Subscriptions page to make sure you have it. If you already have this, please reach out to Customer Support to help troubleshoot.
