We are aware of an issue that affects the "tap to pay" functionality when used in a dual-reader setup with the magnetic stripe (swipe) reader. You may notice that your Toast Tap stops working (the blue light will turn off) when the swipe reader is also connected for employee payments.
This is due to a technical issue with some of our swipe readers. Our team is actively working on a solution. For now, using the Toast Tap by itself should resolve the problem.
If you're having trouble with your card reader, let's try a quick test.
Unplug all card readers from your Toast terminal.
Close the Toast app completely.
Open the Card Reader Test app on your terminal.
Plug in only the swipe card reader.
If you see an error message that says, FAIL_TO_START_USB in bootloader mode, the reader needs to be replaced.
In the meantime, you can unplug the faulty swipe reader and reconnect your Toast Tap (tap-to-pay) reader. It should work while you wait for your replacement to arrive.
