How do I assign courses to my items?

Menu Builder will be retired on September 1, 2026. To continue managing your menus, start using Menu Manager today. Menu Manager includes all the functionality available in Menu Builder, along with new tools that make menu updates easier. Learn more about Menu Manager. |
In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Menu management > Menu builder.
Find your desired menu, group, or menu item, and select the three-dot (⋮) overflow menu icon and then select Edit.
Scroll down to the Kitchen > Prep stations section and use the drop-down menu to select your desired Course. If you don't have courses set up yet, you'll see a link to create them in Toast Web -- check out Manage Course Firing Options to learn more.
Note: By default, menu groups are the same course as their parent menus, and menu items are the same course as their parent menu groups.
If you'd like to override the inherited course for a menu group, select the link icon next to the Course setting to unlink the configurations. Then, you'll be able to select your desired prep station(s) from the list.
If you'd like to override the inherited course for an menu item, toggle Inherit course? to No and then select the desired course from the drop-down menu.
Repeat as desired, then save and publish all changes when you're finished.
