Why are my DoorDash orders suddenly failing?

Answer

DoorDash recently updated its settings to use both delivery and takeout dining options for order fulfillment and reporting. For some of our earlier DoorDash direct integration customers, the DoorDash - Delivery dining option was not part of the initial setup.

To ensure your DoorDash orders continue to flow into Toast, you'll need to create a new dining option called DoorDash - Delivery and set its behavior to Delivery. Once this is done, your DoorDash order functionality should be restored. Please keep in mind that you won't be able to archive or delete this dining option.

Notes:

  • If you see a dining option named Delivery by DoorDash, this is for Toast Delivery Services (TDS), not for the direct DoorDash integration. DoorDash - Delivery is the specific name used for the direct DoorDash integration.

  • If you already have the DoorDash - Delivery dining option, you might notice that orders placed for delivery by Dashers come through with this dining option and a placeholder address like "1 DoorDash Value San Francisco, CA 94103." This is expected, as third-party services do not send guest addresses for privacy reasons; only the third-party drivers receive this information.
