Factory resetting is NOT standard practice for troubleshooting terminals. DO NOT factory reset your terminal until you are prepared and familiar with the results of this process. If you have any questions at all, contact Customer Care before proceeding.

  1. First, ensure that all your payments are uploaded to the cloud to avoid losing credit card transactions. From the Toast app, select the three dot overflow menu in the top-right corner and select Device Status. Confirm that the device is online.

  2. Select the Queues tab on the Device Status pop-up.

  3. Ensure that all payments have been uploaded to the cloud by confirming that all queues are showing "0" pending items.

  4. Once you've confirmed there are no pending payments, exit the Toast app and go to the Android Settings from your home screen.

  5. Select Backup & reset.

  6. You'll see two types of Factory Resets. Select one of the following:

    • Factory Data Reset to erase all data: This should be used in all cases except if the device is used as a Kiosk.

    • Factory Data Reset (EloView): This should only be used when the device is used as a Kiosk.

  7. Select Reset Tablet.

  8. Select Reset Everything.

  9. After the device completes factory reset and reboots, re-download the Toast app. For instructions, see this Support Center article: Install the Toast App.

  10. You may need to reconfigure any Android device-specific settings you had set up.
