e285 Card Reader: Device Won’t Turn On

  1. Check to make sure the charging cable is secure. An icon at the top of the display indicates the battery charge level if it is getting a charge from the cord. The battery charge level needs to be high enough for the terminal to turn on.

  2. Power cycle the device by holding down the red X mark on the device for 15 seconds, and then restart.

  3. Remove the battery, which will perform a hard reset.

e285 Card Reader: Clearing Cache and App Data

CAUTION: Clearing cache and app data on the POS will unpair the reader from the device. You will be required to repair the device and follow the setup instructions again.

e285 Card Reader: Offline Mode

When Toast enters offline mode, the card readers will automatically store the processed payment locally on the reader. When the internet returns, the devices will automatically sync with the host.

The pending icon indicates that there are payments that the terminal hasn't been able to send to the card reader host for completion (capture and settlement).
