Toast Go® 3 Overview
The Toast Go® 3 handheld enables staff to take orders, process payments, and print receipts over Wi-Fi and cellular networks, seamlessly switching between them. There are two different versions:
Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi: Take orders and payments where a Wi-Fi network is available.
Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular: Take payments and orders, and send print jobs over cellular when a Wi-Fi network is unavailable. Note: Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular only features are identified with a disclaimer throughout this article.
Note: At this time, the Toast Go® 3 does not support web browser usage. Self-Managed Device customers are limited to the application options preloaded on the Toast Go® 3 handheld. No additional applications will be available for installation at this time. The following applications (apps) are pre-installed in your Toast Go®3 device:

Toast Go® 3 Prerequisites:
Ensure the device is fully charged before first use.
Have your Toast login credentials ready.
Check the label on the back of the box to see if your device is Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + LTE (Cellular).

Set Up Toast Go® 3

Power On the Device
Press and hold the power button until the Toast logo appears.
Begin Initial Setup
Select Get started and follow the on-screen prompts.
Select Set up using Wi-Fi (recommended) or Mobile data.
Log In to Toast
Select Go to POS to open the Toast POS app.
Enter your Username and Passcode.
Configure Device Settings. You will be prompted to complete several configuration steps:
Determine how you'd like to set up the device.
Select the initial screen that employees will see.
Select a POS display theme.
Name the device for easy identification.
Select whether to enable digital receipts.
Select a printer (if applicable).
Note: For Customers in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the U.K., an additional set up step will occur at this point. A screen displaying 'Staging' and 'Setting Up' will appear. Please wait for the setup to finish. Once complete, select the Toast POS app from the home screen to begin using your Toast Go® 3 device. Additionally, Step 5: Enable EMV Payments (Dip & Tap) is only required for U.S. customers and can be skipped.
Enable EMV Payments (Dip & Tap)
Select Turn on EMV and check for card reader updates.
Make sure EMV is set to Yes.
Select Continue.
Select the back arrow to return to the ordering screen.
Finalize Setup
Select the back arrow to return to the main POS screen.
Your Toast Go® 3 is nowready to take orders and process payments!
Toast Go® 3 Cellular Set Up
This section is exclusive to Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular devices. |
When you purchased your handheld, you already purchased the data plan needed to run your Toast Go® 3 on cellular. This will show up on your monthly invoice as two separate line items: one for the handheld software and the other for the cellular data fee, which will display similar to a subscription on your monthly bill.
Swipe down from the top, select Internet. Turn on 4G to enable your cellular connection. This will default to having both cellular and Wi-Fi toggled on. Note: If you toggle both options, they will function in tandem. The handheld will prioritize the Wi-Fi signal. If you have a stronger cellular connection, the handheld will use that. This is helpful when walking in and out of range of your Toast Wi-Fi network.

Enable Cloud Printing for Toast Go® 3
This section is exclusive to Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular devices. |
Cloud printing with the Toast Go® 3 allows you to print over cellular and any internet-connected Wi-Fi network.
Requirements for Cloud printing:
For Cloud printing on your Toast Go® 3 to function, you must have at least one terminal online on the same network as your printers.
On your handheld, navigate to Devices > Cloud Printing and toggle to On. Note: This setting must be enabled in-store.
Note: Cloud printing will not function if:
Terminals at the location are offline
Internet Service Provider (ISP) outage occurs at the location
Toast Go® 3 is offline
Ineligible devices
Optional: Enable Barcode Scanner for Toast Go® 3
If you are a Toast Retail customer or you sell packaged goods at your business, you can enable barcode scanning for your Toast Go® 3 handhelds. To get started:
First, enable barcodes on your device:
On your device, go to Setup > Device Setup.
Scroll to the Order Screen section.
Turn on Enable SKUs.
Select Continue to save.
Then, start scanning:
Open the ordering screen on your Toast Go® 3.
Select the scan icon to open the camera. See image below.
Point at a product barcode to add it to the order instantly. You will also have the option to add flash if needed to assist capture, or capture manually if the barcode does not automatically capture.
Accepted Payment Methods for Toast Go® 3
You can accept the following payment methods for the Toast Go® 3:
Chip or tap-enabled cards: To dip, insert the card chip first into the Dip Slot at the bottom of your device.
NFC-enabled devices: Tap the device on the Contactless Payment Zone to pay using Apple Pay®, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay™
Magnetic strip cards: Swipe cards with a magnetic strip in the Swipe Slot at the top of your device.
Charge Your Toast Go® 3 Handheld
Magnetic Charging Port (Bottom)
Located at the bottom of the device.
Designed for use with Toast magnetic charging cables or docks.
Simply align the magnetic connector, and it will snap into place.
Ideal for countertop or multi-device charging stations.
USB Charging Port (Side)
Located on the side of the device.
Use a USB cable (this DOES NOT come with the device) and a power adapter to charge directly. Great for individual charging or on-the-go flexibility.
Toast Go® 3 Charging Dock
Charge Toast Go® 3 Without Protective Case
Insert the device: Place the Toast Go® 3 directly into a charging slot. The magnetic charging contacts on the bottom should align automatically.
Connect power to the dock: Plug the USB power cable (found in the small accessories box) into the bottom of the dock near the orange label. Use the thumbscrew to secure the connection.
Manage the cable: Press the power cable through the back slot of the dock so it sits flat on the surface.
Plug in and charge: Connect the power adapter to a wall outlet. The device will automatically begin charging.
Charge Toast Go® 3 With a Protective Case
Remove the insert from the dock: To accommodate the case's added thickness, remove the plastic insert from the charging slot.
Insert the device: Place the Toast Go® 3 with the case into the dock slot, ensuring the magnetic charging contacts align on the bottom.
Connect power to the dock: Plug the USB cable into the bottom of the charging dock (near the orange label) and secure it using the thumbscrew.
Manage the cable: Press the cable through the back slot to help the dock sit flat.
Plug in and charge: Connect to a wall outlet. The device will begin charging automatically.
