Toast Web to POS Data Sync Overview
On occasion, you may notice that a newly added employee's name is missing from printed or Kitchen Display System tickets, or that a newly assigned job title doesn't appear for selection when an employee attempts to clock in for the day. This can occur when a device fails to sync employee changes made in Toast Web.
You may also have noticed when updating employee profiles that the Publish button (which appears after you select Save on the employee profile page) is not available. This is expected, as employee updates should publish automatically upon saving your changes. This publish-upon-save behavior is considered a "soft publish" and differs from the majority of other back-end changes which require you to manually select Publish to push updates to your devices.
Fortunately, if a soft publish fails to sync automatically to one or more of your devices, you can perform a Resync ALL Data on the affected devices themselves, forcing a data refresh to reflect your updated settings.
Manually Resync Data to POS
Follow the steps outlined below to resync data on your device(s):
If you're not already on the number passcode screen, select Switch user at the top of the screen to take you to this page.
From the number passcode screen, select the three dots in the top right-hand corner, then select Device status to ensure the device is online. It's important to note that a re-sync should never be performed on an offline device. Once connectivity has been confirmed, select Okay to close the Device status pop-up box.
Select the three dots again and choose Resync ALL Data.
Once the device has reloaded, the missing server name and/or job title should now appear as expected.
