Set Up Independent Menus for Catering Online Ordering

Under Catering Online Ordering, you can create and run multiple online ordering sites. This feature allows you to display special menus for events, holidays, etc., separately from your other menus all the time or on specific days. To set up your independent catering online ordering menu, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to Toast Web and navigate to Catering & events > Online ordering > Special menus.

  2. You can select from your list of Special menus or add a new menu by selecting +New special menu button.

  3. Enter the Name of your menu (Note: this is guest-facing on your site) and toggle to Independent catering site. This will create a unique menu link for the dates configured for you to use for marketing and QR code creation.

Enable independent catering online ordering sites.

  4. Once your menu selection has been made, select your menu Availability:

    • When is the menu available?

      • Specific dates - does not repeat, and you must choose a specific date or date range.

      • Recurring dates - repeats regularly, and you must select your specific days.

      • Always - based on the default catering schedule set in Toast Web.

  5. Next, select whether you would like to add additional menus to the independent site. If Yes, select the +Add menu link to select available menus. If No, only your independent menu will be visible and available.

  6. Save and publish your changes.

Configure and Override Settings for Independent Menus

When you create an independent catering menu, you can override certain default settings to tailor the experience for a specific event, holiday, or promotion. These overrides will replace your default takeout and delivery settings. If you do not set overrides, the default settings will continue to apply.

  • Availability – Specific dates, recurring dates, or always (based on your default catering schedule)

  • Applies to – Takeout, delivery, or custom locations

  • Menus – Choose whether to include your main site menus or limit the site to just the independent menu

  • Advanced settings – Hours, lead times, maximum days ahead, order minimums and maximums, and checkout options

  • Banner Image – Set a banner image unique to your independent menu to help distinguish seasonal or location specific menus.

  • Order types – Select different order types to control which fields guests see at checkout (fields are customized per customer)

Note: Independent menus are continuing to evolve. For the most up-to-date list of configurable options, open an independent menu in Toast Web following the steps above.
