Why do I receive an error processing a gift card report?

When I try to load the Guests, Gift Cards, and Loyalty Summary report, I see a message that says "Error processing report." -- why is this happening?

Report reference ID: XXX" on the Guests, Gift Cards, and Loyalty Summary report, it may be because you're viewing the report from a single location. The Guests, Gift Cards, and Loyalty Summary report is intended for multilocation groups, as it shows information related to all locations within a loyalty group. You can view the other Marketing reports to find data on gift cards, loyalty, and guests at your restaurant:
