TOEFL® Access offers a quick view of three scoring metrics at the top of the dashboard.
Scores Received shows the total number of TOEFL scores received by your institution.
Average Score indicates the average TOEFL score among your institution’s applicants.
Average Section Scores shows section scores from all four skill sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
These metrics* are displayed for the date range selected.
Some Ways to Use These Metrics:
Evaluate Program Competitiveness
A steady or increasing number of high TOEFL scores received might suggest that the institution is attracting more competitive applicants, potentially leading to more selective admissions criteria.
Evaluate Applicant Proficiency Levels
Scores Received: Gauge the pool of non-native English-speaking applicants by analyzing the total number of TOEFL scores received over a period of time. A higher volume might indicate growing interest in your institution from international students.
Average Score: This provides a benchmark for the overall English language proficiency of applicants. If the average score aligns with or exceeds your institution's expectations, it suggests a strong applicant pool. On the other hand, if you notice a lower average, consider reevaluating your outreach strategies.
Average Section Scores: Section averages for Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing help you identify strengths and weaknesses in your applicants' language skills. This information can be used to assess whether your institution’s programs and support resources are equipped to meet the needs of these applicants.
Enhance Student Support Services
Analyzing trends in section scores can inform the development of orientation programs, English language workshops, or other academic resources to support incoming students.
The institution can proactively identify gaps in proficiency and plan interventions, ensuring students are set up for academic success.
Data from TOEFL scores can be used to refine the decision-making and recruitment process. Additionally, leveraging TOEFL score data effectively can help ensure admitted students are prepared to succeed academically. *About Metrics:
Dashboard metrics display information about TOEFL iBT test takers who applied to your institution and are based on information provided to ETS by those TOEFL iBT test takers.
Metrics reflect the number of score reports received by your institution, which may differ from the number of applicants.
Metrics are reported when there are 10 or more scores in a selected date range.
