"I'm a member of San Francisco TAN. I have a listing coming up in San Rafael. Will I have access to the Marin TAN?"
"Is there a way to receive emails for an area outside of our own chapter?"
"Our team works both Chicago and the suburbs in the North Shore. Do I need to join the North Shore TAN in addition to our Chicago membership?"
We often get questions about how the regions and chapters in TAN work. You might be wondering what the default delivery or coverage area is for your chapter, and whether or not you have access to other chapters besides your own.
To clarify: you already have access to other TAN chapters in your region.
In fact, many agents do business in areas that expand outside TAN's traditional chapters. We've also heard from many members who are branching out to other counties and markets. Due to the pandemic, many people have switched to remote working. They're moving further out and seeking larger homes, better prices and outdoor spaces.
Each agent has a market they do business in, and for many that is expanding. Agents don't necessarily only do business within their chapter as defined by TAN. So, we offer the option for the seller's agent to get their property in front of every agent searching in that location. This applies, no matter which TAN chapter the buyer's agent is in. Plus, the buyer's agent will get access to properties on TAN across ALL chapters in their region.

Where do property and buyer needs get delivered?
We deliver your property or buyer needs to the chapter whose default settings include that area.
We'll ALSO deliver your property to all agents who have a match on TAN, regardless of what chapter they are in.
Let's take, for example, an agent who is in San Francisco and has a property in Napa. The property will be sent to the Napa top agents, any agents who have their notifications set for Napa and all those who have matching buyer needs. This all happens regardless of your chapter.
We let recipients control the notifications they receive, so we won't force deliver to another chapter. The property will only get delivered if the default location is in that chapter. So, for example, if you have a property in Napa and you know the buyer is coming from SF, you won't be able to deliver to all San Francisco TAN agents. Those San Francisco agents who are working with buyers looking in Napa will have their clients on TAN and will be looking at Napa properties. So, you'll reach the ones who matter.
Properties and buyer needs are broadcast and matched across the entire region, no matter which chapter you are in. You never have to worry about missing something if you have a client outside of your regular work area, as long as you add that client to TAN.
You're also able to search broadcast properties or buyer needs outside of your chapter. Here is more information on searching broadcast properties and buyer needs.
Plus, you'll always be in control of where you receive broadcast email notifications from. You can adjust your email settings to receive notifications for cities outside of your TAN chapter. Here's a helpful guide on how to tailor your email settings.
