Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is only available with the following products:

Digital Scorecards is a mobile app scoring feature for 9 and 18-hole competitions that allows players to:

  • Act as a marker and enter scores for other players

  • Enter their own marker's notes

  • Review and certify scores

This feature is typically used in events conducted by competitive golf operations. However, this feature can also be used in the club environment.

In this article, we will discuss how to set up and manage this feature.

Digital Scorecard Setup:

To set up Digital Scorecards for a round, follow these instructions:

  1. Set up the pairings and tournament(s) for the round.

  2. Enable Digital Scorecards under the Rounds Menu (as shown below).

  3. Select how the players will be assigned as scorers. You can allow them to:

    1. Marker Chooses the players(s) on the app: Players select who they will score after logging into the mobile app. You can also define the maximum number of players a marker can score.

    2. Assign marker based on position in pairings: Automatically assign markers by position in the pairings. If assigning by position in the pairings, you will have the following options:

      1. Forward: Assignments are made from left to right. For instance, if using threesomes, 1 marks 2, 2 marks 3, 3 marks 1.

      2. Reverse: Assignments are made from right to left. For instance, if using threesomes, 3 marks 2, 2 marks 1, and 1 marks 3.

      3. Advanced: Exactly select who marks who. A player can only have one marker. However, a marker can score multiple players. This option is useful for team competitions where player 1 (or 2) can be a marker for 3 and 4 while player 3 (or 4) can be a marker for 1 and 2.

    3. Allow golfers to change the marked player after the round starts: When players start a round, they can override the default marker assignments determined in (a) or (b) above.

  4. Click "Save."

  5. Move the round to "In Progress" by going to the Rounds Menu menu and clicking "In Progress."

  6. When ready to allow players to enter scores (usually on the morning of the round), enable mobile score entry by going to the Rounds Menu and clicking "Enable Mobile Score Entry" (as shown below).

  7. Select the Default Tournament. Selecting a net tournament will add Playing Handicaps and dots to the scorecards on the mobile app (if applicable).

  8. Click "Save."

Digital Scorecards will then be set up for the round, players will be assigned Player-specific GGIDs, and they can start entering scores on the mobile app.

Viewing Player GGID's:

To view the assigned Player GGIDs from the Manager Site, go to Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings and select to view Player GGIDs (as shown below).

Communicating Player GGIDs:

To log into the app, players will enter their Player GGIDs (and not Foursome GGIDs). These Player GGIDs can be sent to golfers via email, text message, or included in reports (e.g., alpha list, tee sheet, etc.).

While it's possible to include Player GGIDs on printed scorecards, it is not suggested because players (after exchanging scorecards at the beginning of the round) may mistakenly enter the Player GGID on the scorecard in hand (which is the Player GGID for the player they are keeping score for).

Customize the Mobile App:

You can customize the mobile app with a logo, app color, mobile pages, and mobile banners. For details on customizing your mobile app, Click Here.

How Players Use the Mobile App:

Below is the process players will use with the mobile app:

  1. Log in with their Player GGID

  2. View or select (depending on the assignment settings) their marker assignments

  3. Enter scores and markers notes

  4. Review and compare scores after the round

  5. If there are any conflicts or inconsistencies, make corrections (if necessary)

  6. Certify scores as a marker

  7. Certify Scores as a player

Once scores are certified for a player by the marker and the player, additional adjustments cannot be made to the official scores.

Viewing Scores from the Manager Site:

As players enter scores and marker's notes on the mobile app, you can view the entered scores and view marker's notes from the Manager Site. To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Enter Scores.

  2. Select the option to show markers notes (as shown below)

  3. Select a player or pairing group

You can then view the marker's notes (as shown below).

When selecting a player's name, you can also view if their scores have been certified by the player or marker on the mobile app (as shown below).

As a manager, you can always override these selections (if necessary).

Team Competitions:

Digital Scorecards can also be used for team tournaments. If playing a pair-based team tournament where players play their own ball (e.g., Four-Ball, Best Balls), you can allow the marker to enter marker notes for their teammate (as shown below).

Below is an example of the score entry page for this scenario.

Players will enter team scores if playing a two-person scramble or alternate shot tournament (as shown below).
