Updating Event/League Handicap Indexes from WHS

This article is intended for WHS users of the following products:

There are two ways to retrieve and update Handicap Indexes from WHS:

  • Updating the entire Master Roster and propagating to events and leagues

  • Updating within specific events and leagues.

In this article, we will discuss both options.

Propagate Handicap Indexes from the Master Roster:

You can retrieve the Handicap Indexes for your entire Master Roster by updating your Master Roster manually or setting up daily automatic updates. When doing so, you can then propagate the new Handicap Indexes to any future events and leagues.

Updating Handicap Indexes within an Event/League:

The WHS Handicap Service must first be established as your Handicap Index Service Provider. To set up the WHS as your Handicap Index Service Provider (if not yet done so), go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Default Setting for Leagues or Events > Handicap Settings. Go to the Handicap Index Service section (as shown below). For more details about setting up your WHS Handicap Index Service, Click Here.

  1. After Establishing WHS as your Handicap Service Provider, within your event/league, go to League/Event Menu > League/Event Profile > Handicap Settings. Go to the Handicap Index Service section (as shown below). Verify WHS is selected in the first dropdown. Note: Japan Customers will display "JGA WHS."

  2. If desired check the box to "Automatically update Handicap Indexes from the Master Roster into Event/League Roster." Note: This update only occurs on the day of scheduled rounds and you are automatically updating the master roster.

  3. Click "Save."

  4. Go to Golfers > Access WHS to update Handicap Indexes.

  5. Select specific players or all players using the checkboxes. Additionally, you can use the search option to find players quickly.

  6. Select the update method:

    1. Current Handicap Index: Retrieve Handicap Indexes as of the current date.

    2. Handicap Index on a specific date: Retrieve Handicap Indexes from a specific past date.

  7. (Event/League Only) If you have multiple rounds, select the round you would like to update Handicap Indexes for. That round and all following rounds will be updated unless updated have been turned off for that round. For more details on turning off handicap updates for a specific round, Click Here.

  8. Click "Update".

The handicaps for the selected players will then be updated for the event or league (as shown below).

The "Status" column will indicate if the player's handicap was successfully updated. The "H.I." column will display the change in handicaps before and after the update.

Note: If you run a weekly league, and meet the following parameters, you can use the automatic re-fill feature:

  • Created divisions/flights using Playing Handicap or Handicap Index.

  • Re-fill the divisions/flights after every Handicap Index update.
