In this article, we will discuss the options in the "Handicap Stroking" tab (shown below) when designing scorecards. For a general overview of printing scorecards along with links to articles discussing other tabs, Click Here.
Selected Tournament:
The most common reason why handicap strokes are incorrect on printed scorecards is that the incorrect tournament is selected. The correct tournament must be selected to properly stroke and handicap the scorecards. To change the selected tournament, go to the "Pairing Groups" tab. On the top left of this tab, the selected tournament will be displayed.
If a tournament is not set up (or not selected in the Pairing Groups tab) for the round, then you can select from the following "User-Defined" options:
Print for gross play with no strokes marked: No Playing Handicaps or strokes will be listed on the scorecards.
Print for net play with full Playing Handicaps marked: This option will mark the full Course Handicaps (100%) for every player.
Print for net play marked off of low Playing Handicap in each foursome: This option could be used to play a pair v. pair or player v. foursome competition. You are marking off the low player in each foursome.
Print for net play marked off low Playing Handicap in the field: If playing a tournament that plays Net (off lowest) in the field, you will want to select this option.
Print for singles play: When selecting this option, you will be given the option of "1v3 & 2v4" or "1v2 & 3v4". They will also be marked Net (off Lowest) in each match.
Above is an example of a singles scorecard printing for "1v3 & 2v4". Dave is playing a match against Sly, who gets 11 strokes in that match. Trip is playing a match against Sam, who is getting 24 strokes.
Print Handicap strokes (dots) on card:
To have the strokes (dots) printed on the scorecards, make sure this option is checked. This is especially important for Match Play.
Print Total Handicaps:
Scorecards using a net tournament will have a "Hdcp" column on the right side of the scorecard.
When checking this option, the Playing Handicaps will be displayed. Tournaments using anything less than 100% Handicap Allowance will display both the Course Handicap and the Playing Handicap after the allowance is applied. For instance, in the scorecard above, Sly Johnson's Course Handicap is 11, but after the 90% allowance is applied, he is moved to a 10.
Note: If the Course Handicap and Playing Handicap are the same, only one number will be shown.
Print Course Handicap before adjustment:
When selecting this option, each player's Course Handicap will be displayed and the Playing Handicap (after the handicap allowance is applied).
The example below shows where the full Playing Handicaps are displayed, followed by the adjusted Course Handicaps (adjusted at 90%).
Include handicap holes line on card (Gross Tournaments Only):
The handicap hole allocation row (shown below) is usually not needed on the scorecard for gross tournaments. In those cases, you can remove the row.
Include Slope and Rating (Gross Tournaments Only):
The Course/Tee Slope and Rating (shown below) are usually not needed for gross tournaments. By selecting this option, you can remove this information.
Include Hdcp and Net columns on card (Gross Tournaments Only):
Gross tournaments usually do not need the "Hdcp" and "Net" columns on the scorecard (shown below). By selecting this option, these columns will be removed.
