β
Events, Rounds, and Tournaments:
It is important to understand the relationship between an event (or league), round, and tournament as illustrated below. Within an event or league, you may have one or more rounds and one or more tournaments. Tournaments may span one or more rounds.
The example below is a Member Guest event which includes 3 rounds of golf. Notice there are single round tournaments played within one round (e.g., Fri.Skins, Par 3). There are also tournaments played over multiple rounds (e.g., Spoiler, Round Robin Matches).
Divisions and Flights:
Divisions and Flights are an integral part to managing events and leagues. They are used to create separate groups for pairings and scoring.
As shown below, an event can have one or more divisions and each division can be flighted.
The example below is a Four Ball event with three divisions (Open, Senior, and Women). There are also flights WITHIN the Open and Senior Division while the Women's Division has no flights.
Player Rosters:
There are three different types of rosters in Golf Genius as summarized below.
The best way to explain the relationship between all three rosters is by example. Think of a club that has 500 members (master roster). Of the 500 members on the master roster, 40 members are playing in the Fall Ryder Cup Event (event roster). Let's say the alternate shot round is limited to only 32 players. Therefore, only 32 of the 40 players will be playing that round (round roster).
The diagram below illustrates the relationship between these rosters along with the possible sources of player information.
