Stableford Tournaments

Updated over 4 months ago

Unlike traditional scoring methods, where the aim is to have the lowest score, the objective in a Stableford tournament is to have the highest score. Stableford awards points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. The points awarded on each hole might look something like this:

  • Double Eagle: 8 points

  • Eagle: 5 points

  • Birdie: 2 points

  • Par: 0 points

  • Bogey: -1 point

  • Double Bogey or more: -3 points

While this point scheme is common on the tour, it can be modified to be more favorable for your league where you might score it similar to this:

  • Double Eagle: 5 points

  • Eagle: 4 points

  • Birdie: 3 points

  • Par: 2 points

  • Bogey: 1 point

  • Double Bogey or more: 0 points

While not played as frequently as the typical Stroke Play and Match Play tournaments, Stableford tournaments, like Quota tournaments, are a fun alternative.

In this article, we will discuss how you can set up this type of tournament.

Setting up a Stableford Tournament:

To set up a Stableford tournament, go to the tournament setup and select Stableford as the format (as shown below). The point structure will appear where it can be customized (if necessary).
