Quota Tournaments

Updated over 4 months ago

While not played as frequently as the typical Stroke Play and Match Play tournaments, Quota tournaments are a fun alternative. Like Stableford tournaments, a point system is used to determine the winner. However, every player is given a point quota (which is determined by the player's Playing Handicap) and their point total is compared to their quota to determine a final score.

In this article, we will discuss how you can set up this type of tournament.

Setting up a Quota Tournament:

To set up a Quota tournament, go to the tournament setup and select Quota as the format (as shown below).

The point structure will appear where it can be customized (if necessary).

The settings to determine player quotas can also be adjusted (if necessary) by going to the Advanced Handicap Options (as shown below) for the tournament.

There are two options:

  • Standard Quota: Set the base quota to a number. It is typically 36, but can be changed to whatever you'd like. The quota for each player is the base quota minus their Playing Handicap. Let's look at a simple example...

    Base Quota: 36
    John's Playing Handicap: 10
    John's Quota: 26

  • Chicago Quota: To determine the quota using the Chicago Format, take the base quota, then add the Playing Handicap. The base quota for the Chicago format is typically -39. Let's look at a simple example...

    Base Quota: -39
    John's Playing Handicap: 10
    John's Quota: -29

Quota Tournaments can also be multi-round tournaments. Oftentimes player quotas need to be adjusted after each round in these tournaments to ensure fair and exciting play. For details on setting up an adjustable Quota multi-round tournament, Click Here.
