In competitive golf, it is sometimes necessary to change the tournament status of a player. By default, the initial status of all players is "Active." However, that can change.
In this article, we will discuss the various tournament statuses, when they are automatically changed, how you can change them, grouping non-active players, removing non-active players, and how scores are displayed on the leaderboard.
Tournament Status Options:
The following is a description of all the possible statuses:
Active - The player is active in the tournament.
DQ - Disqualified: When a serious breach in the rules of golf has occurred, a disqualification penalty is often appropriate. When selected, any scores entered for the player will be removed and will not be used for any other tournament within that round.
WD - Withdrawn: Often, a player will have to withdraw from a round voluntarily. When you WD a player, their scores will still show on the leaderboard, and those scores will be used in other tournaments (if applicable) in that round. Say, for instance, Tommy is playing in a round that plays an individual low net stroke play tournament and a best ball of the foursome tournament. After 12 holes, Tommy withdraws because of back pain. While he will show WD for the individual tournament, his 12 scores are still used for the foursome tournament.
NS - No Show: If a player does not show up for a round, they can be marked as NS.
NC - No Card: Sometimes, a player will complete a round and decide not to hand in their scores. Selecting the "No Card" status may be appropriate in this case. If scores are entered for the player, they will not appear on an individual tournament leaderboard. However, they will show up (and be used) for a team, pair, or foursome competition.
DNF - Did Not Finish: This status can be used if a player started a round but did not finish. Similar to the WD status, the player's partial scores are seen on the leaderboard and are still used for team, pair, and foursome competitions.
NR - No Return (UK WHS Users Only): This status acts the same as the "No Card" status. However, it is only available for UK WHS users.
When a player's tournament status is changed to something other than "Active," they are automatically ranked below players with active status on individual tournament leaderboards.
Automatic Status Changes:
The final leaderboard is produced when the round status is moved to complete for a round. If playing an individual Stroke Play or Stableford tournament, tournament statuses will automatically change if:
A player has no scores entered. Their tournament status will change to "NS."
A player has partial scores entered. Their tournament status will change to "DNF."
See the example of a final leaderboard below.
Manually Changing a Tournament Status:
As a manager, you can also change tournament statuses individually. To do this:
Go to Rounds > Enter Scores
Click on a pairing group.
Click on the player.
Select their new status.
If you have created pairings for future rounds and would like to remove this player from the pairings, check the option, "Additionally, remove this player from all future round pairings."
Enter an optional comment. This comment will be displayed on the leaderboard when hovering over the player's name.
Click "Done Entering Scores"
The sequence below shows the process of changing a player's tournament status.
After changing the tournament status, the leaderboard will update (as shown below).
Further, if you selected the option, "Additionally, remove this player from all future round pairings," that player will be removed from all future pairings for the event/league.
Grouping Players on the Leaderboard with Status Changes:
You can use section lines to group players with a status change on the leaderboard (as shown below).
To group players with a status change on the leaderboard, follow these instructions:
Go to your tournament setup
For single-round tournaments, go to Round > Tournament > Edit Tournament
For multi-round tournaments, go to League/Event > Multi-Round Tournament > Edit Tournament.
Click "Cut Lines & Sections."
Click "New Section."
Set the Rounds to "All Rounds" (Multi-Round Tournament Only).
Select the option for "DQ/DNF/NS players."
Click "Continue" and "Save" the tournament.

Removing Players from Future Rounds:
If managing a multi-round event, players with changed tournament statuses typically do not continue to future rounds. There are two scenarios:
Future pairings created before tournament status changes: For a two-round qualifier, pairings are typically set at the beginning of both rounds. If a player's tournament status changes in the first round, select the option (described in the previous section of this article) to remove the player from future rounds. The player will then be removed from the pairings for Round 2.
Tournament status changes before pairings are created for future rounds: For the scenario where a player's tournament status changes before pairings are created for future rounds, the player will automatically not be included in future pairings if pairing by previous results.
Displaying Non-Active Players Scores on the Leaderboard:
By default, the non-active player's status is displayed in the Rank Column and in the round and cumulative scores column. You have the ability to control if non-active player's round scores and cumulative scores should be displayed on the leaderboard. To display round and cumulative scores for non-active players, follow these directions:
Enabling scores on the leaderboard:
Custom Level: To enable this as the default for all new events/leagues, go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Default Settings > Tournaments and Scoring > Displaying Options.
Event League Level: To enable this in an existing event/league, go to Event/League > Event/League Profile > Tournaments and Scoring > Display Options.
Enable the option by checking the box for "Display round and cumulative scores for non-active players on the leaderboard" (as shown below).
Click "Save" to apply the settings.
