How can I track and score Putts games?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: We run a "Putts" game alongside our main tournament. How can I track player's putts and score the "Putts" game?

A: When running a "Putts" game, we recommend adding a line to your paper scorecard so players can track scores and then use a "User Scored Tournament" to enter results to display a leaderboard for your game.

Tracking Putts:

Have your players track their putts on a paper scorecard. You can add a line below each player's name where they can enter their putts per hole and tally them up at the end of the round. To enter a line on your scorecard, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Print Scorecards.

  2. Find the scorecard you will use, hover your mouse over it, and click "Edit."

  3. Select the tab "Additional Info & Tees."

  4. Click "Add Scorecard Row" to add additional lines on the scorecards. Note: Add an extra row for each player on the card.

  5. Rearrange the new rows below each player and enter "Putts" as the row's title (as shown below).

  6. Make any additional adjustments to the scorecard as necessary. For more details on creating and editing scorecards, Click Here.

  7. Click "Save & Print" to print your scorecards.

Players can track and tally their putts on the scorecard, to be entered later in Golf Genius TM.

Scoring "Putts" Games:

You can score your "Putts" game as a User Scored Tournament. To create and score your tournament, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Tournaments > Add User Scored Tournament.

  2. Set up the tournament (as shown below):

    1. Provide a name for the tournament.

    2. Set how you will Award Points.

  3. Click "Go," and the User Scored Tournament will be set up.

  4. Click "Enter Results or Proximities" to enter scores for the putts game and create your leaderboard. Note: Alternatively, you can go to Rounds > Display Leaderboard.

  5. Click "Enter Results" for the User Scored Tournament.

  6. Enter the putt totals for players in the "Details" column (as shown below).

Note 1: It is important to enter totals in the details column for the leaderboard to score from lowest to highest.
Note 2: When entering single-digit and double-digit scores, the single-digit scores will be placed at the bottom. Add position (Pos.) numbers to the single-digit scores to move them to the top.

  7. Click "Done Adjusting," and the leaderboard will be updated.

Note: You can always enter some scores and later come back to enter more scores or player positions by going to Rounds > Display Leaderboard > Change Results (as shown below).
