What is baseline par?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: What does "baseline par" mean?

A: There are sometimes cases when an "In Progress" tournament uses multiple tees with different pars. If the tournament is applying the relative par/rating difference when computing Playing Handicaps, the "In Progress" leaderboard will be ranked using baseline par (as opposed to ranking in relation to the par of the course being played by each player). Baseline par always comes from the tee that is being played by the most players in the competition. When the tournament is complete, the leaderboard will then be ranked by lowest total score.

If relative par/rating difference is not being applied (from the Handicap Settings tab), you have the option to rank the leaderboard by lowest total score or lowest score in relation to par in the Tournaments and Scoring tab of the Event Profile (as shown below).

When selecting to rank by lowest total score, baseline par will also be used when the leaderboard is "In Progress".

For example, the "In Progress" leaderboard below uses the Blue tee (Par 72) as the baseline par.

Flavia is playing from the Red tee where the first hole is a par 5, but the baseline par is 4. While her 4 is considered a birdie from the Red tee, the live leaderboard will use the baseline par and consider her even.
