Marking a part as ADR/Waste

In order to mark a new (or already existing) part as Hazardous or Waste you must navigate to the Parts Masterdata in the Control Tower (Admin > Masterdata > Parts).

There, under the properties tab, you can find two small sections with checkboxes. Selecting the Waste checkbox will expand the section where you can enter the relevant waste codes (Basel, EWC or Oeso).

Now, this part will be visible as Hazardous and Waste. Orders that contain this part can now be set to behave differently.

Rate zone selection

It is very important to apply the correct Rate Zones to the order containing parts that are marked as ADR/Waste. To ensure the right rate zone application you must go to the rate zone management (Admin > Cost management > Rate zones).

When creating a new rate zone (or editing an existing one) you have the option to match this rate only with goods marked as hazardous or waste.

Carrier allocation

In order to automatically select the right carrier for the ADR/Waste orders, you must create the right carrier allocation rule.

First, navigate to the Carrier Allocation Settings (Admin > Settings > Carrier Allocation Settings). In the dropdowns, Hazardous and Waste, select 'Only match with hazardous/waste goods'.

Now, when the carrier is automatically allocated, only the carrier(s) with this allocation setting will be considered for orders with cargo marked as ADR/Waste.

Setting up Vehicle type allow ADR

It is important to specify which Vehicle Types are allowed to transport hazardous goods. In order to define that you must go to Vehicle types masterdata (Admin > Masterdata > Vehicle types) and select the "Allow ADR" checkbox for the desired Vehicle type.

This ensures that there is no mistake when selecting the Vehicle Type or when Vehicle Type is automatically applied in the order form.

E-mail settings

To ensure that carriers receive clear information about the hazardous cargo they are going to transport, it is important to set up the email settings for hazardous goods. To do that you must navigate to the E-mail settings (Admin > Settings > E-mail settings) and select 'Only match with hazardous goods' in the 'Hazardous' dropdown. More on how to set up the e-mail settings can be found here.
