How to loop through questions using the Repeater Section

Repeater Section allows you to loop through a set of questions when the repeater name is input

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Chefs must ensure food is cooked to the right temperature for safety and quality. A food temperature checklist helps track the temperature of dishes during preparation. A Repeater Section can make it easy to monitor and record temperatures for multiple items without creating a new entry every time.

A repeater section allows you to loop through a set of questions when the repeater name is input and it is typically used in:

  • Delivery checks

  • Equipment checks

  • Food temperature checks

  • Fire alarm test

  • Fire extinguishers check

How to create a repeater section

In this guide, we're going to use the example of a cooking temperature check.

  1. Go to the Form Library and click Add Form.

  2. Complete the Details and Create.

  3. Go to Question and create a Repeater Section. There are two Repeater Name options:

    • Text - repeaters need to be entered manually.

    • Option - repeaters are predefined and provided in a selection list.

For instance, if the food items vary, it is better to use Text. The items can automatically populate from the last event (to save the items from the previous event, the option circled in red must be enabled).

However, if certain food items are prepared on a regular basis, you can make the items into Options. This way, your team can select the items without entering them manually.

When selecting Options, a display type will appear.

  • Listing: Questions will be displayed in a list.

  • Grid Listing: Questions are arranged in a grid structure.

Grid view is useful for comparing many entries, such as product price. Please note that only numerical properties without validations can be linked. Completion timestamps on questions are not displayed in this type of section display.

After creating a repeater, you can add questions as needed. These questions will be looped through whenever a repeater is entered.
