We recently introduced a new Notifications system (aptly named Notifications) within Truss. Look for the bell icon in the top-right:
This was based on feedback from our users that Action Items, which create a new action item for every file uploaded, made it difficult to figure out which projects were "ready" for review - especially during busy seasons where hundreds or even thousands of files were being uploaded by many different clients on a daily basis. What a mess!
Don't like notifications? Don't worry, for now, you can always switch back to Action Items by clicking "Disable for now, and go back to Action Items":
However, please leave us some feedback, we want to make improvements!
Notifications solves this problem in several ways:
Unlike Action Items, when a client uploads files to a new project, these will not immediately generate a notification. This should cut down on unactionable notifications being generated from clients beginning to upload files, but who are not yet ready for their firms to review.
Note: comments from clients will ALWAYS generate a notification immediately, as will Firm drop offs from clients, just as with Action Items.
Instead, the first notification you'll receive on a project is when the client clicks "Send for Review" or marks ALL their tasks as Done. This is the first time the client has indicated that they're ready for you to look at their work.
After the initial "Send for Review" notification, any additional file uploads to a project will immediately create a notification. This is to facilitate quick back-and-forths that are usually necessary to finish out a project. For example, after your initial review, you may push back a few tasks to your client, and if they upload any additional files at this point, you would want to be immediately notified. That's the default functionality!
We will be rolling out some additional functionality as well:
Project Watchers will get their own notifications on projects that they are watching, when files are uploaded or comments are made.
The ability to "Forward" a notification to another user in your firm.
We will create other types of notifications such as when a question is answered on a project or when esignatures are signed.
