Whitelisting offers UGC (User-Generated Content) creators a unique opportunity to collaborate with brands and earn additional income. This guide explains how whitelisting works on the Twirl platform and what creators need to know.

What is Whitelisting?

Whitelisting involves posting UGC on your public social profile (TikTok or Instagram) and allowing the brand to boost it as an ad. This process benefits both creators and brands by increasing content visibility and reach.

Key Points for Creators

  1. Follower Count: Your number of followers is typically not a crucial factor in whitelisting opportunities.

  2. Project Briefs: Brands will explicitly mention whitelisting in the project brief if they're interested in this option. They may also request it after a campaign is finished, but this is your choice to accept!

  3. Additional Payment: Whitelisting comes with a separate payment on top of your project payout.

    • Payment is processed through Lumanu

    • Typically £100 for one post on TikTok and/or Instagram

    • The ad runs for 30 days

  4. Social Handles: The client may ask for your social handles to access whether they want to continue. From here, you will need to have a business account for them to connect to their brand account.

  5. Opportunity for All: You don't need a large following to participate in whitelisting most of the time. It depends on the brand.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. Create and Get Paid: Complete your content creation project as usual and receive payment through Lumanu.

  2. Twirl Outreach: Twirl will contact you about whitelisting, confirming:

    • Which social profile to post on (TikTok and/or Instagram)

    • Caption and hashtag suggestions

    • Posting date and time

  3. Platform-Specific Steps:

    • For TikTok: Share a Spark code and enable advertising features

    • For Instagram: Add the brand as a collaborator

    • For Meta: Create a Facebook Ads Manager account and grant access to your 'likeness'

  4. Ad Runtime and Payout: Once the ad is live, you'll receive payment via Lumanu.

  5. Post Management: After 30 days, you can delete the post if desired. The brand cannot continue running it as an ad beyond this point.

Important Notes

  • Whitelisting allows brands to boost your post as an ad, increasing visibility.

  • The process varies slightly depending on the platform (TikTok, Instagram, or Meta).

  • You maintain control over your content and can remove it after the agreed period.

Benefits of Whitelisting

  • Extra income opportunity

  • Increased exposure for your content

  • Chance to collaborate with brands in a new way

Whitelisting through Twirl offers UGC creators a fantastic way to monetize their content further and gain valuable exposure. It's an opportunity worth considering for creators at any follower level looking to expand their brand collaborations.
