Can I hold trades overnight or over the weekend?

Updated over 3 months ago

Weekday and Weekend Trading Policy

At Tycoon Funded, we allow traders to hold trades overnight on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and over the weekend. This flexibility applies to most instruments, but there are specific considerations you should be aware of based on the asset class and platform maintenance schedules.

Weekend Trading for Crypto Pairs

  • Trading and holding crypto pairs over the weekend is permitted.

  • Our platforms may experience maintenance hours over the weekend. For example, MetaQuotes undergoes maintenance every Saturday between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM EST. During this window, trading may be unavailable, so we encourage caution when planning your trades.

  • There is also a brief maintenance break on Fridays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST after market close.

Holding Forex, Metals, Indices, and Crypto Over the Weekend

While holding positions over the weekend is allowed for Forex, Crypto, Metals, and Indices, traders should remain cautious of potential market gaps. These gaps occur when the market reopens, and prices may shift significantly from their last traded levels, potentially causing account violations.

As a risk manager, it’s your responsibility to evaluate the potential risks and rewards of holding positions over the weekend. If a market gap leads to a violation, it will be the trader’s responsibility.

Simulated Drawdown Reset Considerations

The simulated maximum daily drawdown resets daily at 5:00 PM EST. To ensure a smooth reset process and avoid potential technical issues:

  • Avoid placing trades between 4:57 PM and 5:03 PM EST, as this is when the drawdown is being recalculated.

  • Your last simulated balance or equity (whichever is higher) will be used to set your new daily breach level, which will then update on your dashboard.

By understanding these policies, you can manage your trades effectively while staying compliant with Tycoon Funded's rules.
