This guide covers how to write and publish:

  • X (Twitter) posts, longform, and threads.

  • Bluesky posts and threads.

  • Threads posts and threads.

Character limits

  • X (Twitter) posts up to 280 characters per post (or 4000 characters if you are an X Premium subscriber).

  • Bluesky posts up to 300 characters per post.

  • Threads posts up to 500 characters per post.

All three platforms support writing and publishing multi-post threads.

Start by creating a post

Create a post by selecting "X Twitter", "Bluesky", or "Threads" either from the home page or press the new post button.

Next, write your post or choose a template

Browse post, thread, and longform templates on the left side, and write your post on the right.

Inserting a template

To insert a template, first find the one you want to insert by browsing the template panel on the left. Then click into the template and select "Insert Template".

Note: this will replace any existing content you have in the editor.

Writing your post

Now, you can fill in the template, or write your own post. You never need to use templates - but they are helpful!

Here's a few things to keep in mind:

  • To add a new post to your thread, press the "Add a Post" button or press ⌘+Enter.

  • See your character limit by hovering the circle beside the image icon.

  • You can add up to 4 images to each post in a thread. (Threads allows up to 10 images per post).

Publishing/Scheduling your post

Publishing to Typeshare is included on all plans (Free, Pro, and Creator), but publishing to social platforms (X, Bluesky, Threads, and LinkedIn) is only available on our Pro and Creator plans.

When you are done writing, you can publish your post to the following destinations:

  • X (Twitter)

  • Bluesky

  • Threads

  • LinkedIn

  • Typeshare

Note: direct publishing requires you to connect to all of the selected destinations. If you haven't done that yet, you'll be prompted to do that now or you can that from Settings > Connections (this only takes a few seconds).

  1. Press the Publish button in the top right corner.

  2. Select the destinations you want to publish or schedule to (if you haven't connected a certain destination, you'll be prompted to here).

  3. Preview each destination.

  4. Press "Publish Now" to publish your post immediately or "Schedule" to pick a time to publish in the future.

Wait 24 hours

After you publish your post, wait 24 hours. This gives your post time to see how it performs with your audience on each published platform.

After 24 hours, your post will receive a Performance Score that indicates how well that post performed overall and on each published platform.

A high score = high performance and you should write more like this.

To view your posts performance score, scroll down on the Home page and click on the post under "Recently Published" or "Top Performers" if it was one of your top performers in the last week.

When you click on the post, you'll be able to see how well your post performed on each published platform.

There you go! Everything you need to write, publish, and see what posts your audience is resonating with!

If you ever get stuck, you can contact support in the bottom right of Typeshare (and get connected with our resident Typeshare expert - Cait).
