eBay Messages and Payments/Refunds

Please note all inquiries from buyers are to be handled directly through eBay. Even though Lister does not process payments, all refunds issued through eBay for items posted through Lister will propagate to the appropriate orders within Lister.

SKU vs. eBay ID

SKU

  • Upright Lister represents a product with a SKU (stock keeping unit)

  • This is the best way to track all actions taken with a particular product

  • The Product SKU is located on the Products page and is not the same as the Upright Product ID

eBay ID

  • A new channel ID is created each time a product is relisted

  • Found in the URL and "About this item" section of the description, for example:

Reporting

All reporting in eBay is in your local time zone and local currency. Upright Lister reporting is set up to match these settings.

Preferences for Items Awaiting Payment

This settings page on eBay allows you to control how long a buyer has to pay for an item. To use listing strategies in Lister, you MUST have this toggled on so that items can automatically relist if unpaid.

Important Note: These eBay settings must be correctly configured to prevent double sales!

  1. Ensure the "Automatically cancel unpaid items" setting is toggled ON

  2. Select how long buyers have to pay for items. After that time, items still awaiting payment are automatically canceled. This setting must be set to less than 30 days to avoid double sales!

After 30 days, eBay’s API no longer sends complete item information to Lister, meaning that Lister will relist an item after 30 days, potentially resulting in double sales.

  3. IMPORTANT: Ensure the "Automatically relist canceled items" setting is toggled OFF. If toggled on, Lister and eBay will create duplicate listings, potentially leading to double sales. Click here to learn how to safely cancel orders on eBay
