One of the benefits of uploading your station data to PWSweather is access to the AerisWeather Contributor Plan. Contributors gain access to AerisWeather’s Weather API and Maps.
If you need a more robust AerisWeather subscription than the Contributor Plan provides, reach out to us for information on how to maximize your savings as a PWSweather Contributor.
In exchange for the use of the AerisWeather API and Maps, we require attribution from Contributor Plan users who have public-facing projects on pages where our tools are on display.
To simplify this request, just copy and paste the following HTML on the same page that any AerisWeather data or mapping products are utilized:
<a href="https://aerisweather.com" title="Powered by AerisWeather API">Powered by AerisWeather</a>
Please contact our support team and we’ll be happy to provide that information.
For weather stations or software that do not support/send cloud cover, the PWSweather ingest system will check to see if there is an airport weather station (METAR) observation within 15 miles that provides this information. If so, the ingest script will utilize this and make note of the station used. Some software packages such as Weather Display perform a similar check as well.
If you would like to verify the ICAO being utilized for the cloud info, with your PWS contributor account you can query the AerisWeather API for your PWS station ID:
The response will include a skywxSrc attribute which states the ICAO that was used for the sky information.
