This guide explains how partners can turn the tipping prompt on or off for Adyen terminals.
Tipping settings can be configured:
- At the store level β applies to all terminals under that store
- At the terminal level β applies to a specific device

πͺ Enable or Disable Tipping at the Store Level (Recommended)
Follow these steps to apply tipping settings to all terminals under a store:
1. Log into the Adyen Customer Area
2. In the top left, select the correct merchant account
3. From the left menu, go to:
In-person payments β Stores
4. Search for the Store ID
5. Select the store

6. You will land on the Settings screen
7. Under the Settings menu, select Payment Features
8. Scroll down to the Tipping section
You will see two options:
Enable tipping
- Used for integrated terminals
- (Connected to POS systems)
Standalone tipping
- Used for standalone terminals
- (Not integrated with a POS)

9. Select the pencil icon βοΈ next to the setting you want to update
10. Enable or disable tipping as needed
11. Select the blue Save button at the bottom of the page

π When Will the Change Take Effect?
- Terminals will pick up the update during their next maintenance cycle
- You can view maintenance intervals by:
- Going to Settings
- Selecting Hardware

- Make sure you are updating the correct setting:
- Standalone tipping β for non-integrated devices
- Enable tipping β for integrated devices
- Changes made at the store level apply to all terminals under that store
- Proper permissions are required to edit these settings
