Important Update: Adyen Payment Terminal Discontinuation – PCI PTS 5.x Expiration

Adyen is phasing out all payment terminals certified under the PCI PTS 5.x security standard ahead of the April 30, 2027 expiration deadline. Several models can no longer be ordered through Adyen's portal.

We are writing to inform you of an important update from Adyen regarding several payment terminal models that will no longer be available for new orders.

We sincerely apologize for the short notice. While we were aware of the upcoming change for the P400, the broader scope of impacted models was only just communicated to us by Adyen. We are passing this along as quickly as possible so you can plan accordingly.

📋 Background

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) PTS 5.x security standard is scheduled to expire on April 30, 2027. As Payment Service Providers are only permitted to sell payment terminals with valid PCI PTS approval, Adyen has begun phasing out devices certified under this standard in advance of the deadline.

The newer PCI PTS 6.x standard contains tighter security controls designed to mitigate the latest forms of attack and will remain valid through April 2032.

🚫 Affected Models – No Longer Available for New Orders

The following Adyen payment terminals can no longer be ordered through Adyen's portal. Only accessories for these models remain available.

  • P400 Plus and P400 Eth

  • M400

  • e285p

  • e280

  • V400m

  • V400c

  • V240m

⚠️ What This Means for You

Because these terminals can no longer be ordered through Adyen, any partners who have historically ordered the models listed above will need to identify and begin testing alternative PCI PTS 6.x-compliant devices from Adyen's currently available lineup.

We strongly encourage you to begin this evaluation as soon as possible to ensure continuity for your merchants and to avoid disruption ahead of the April 30, 2027 deadline.

✅ Next Steps

  • Review your current device usage and forecast against the affected models listed above.

  • Begin evaluating PCI PTS 6.x-compliant replacement terminals from Adyen's available lineup.

  • Reach out to your ValPay contact if you have questions, need replacement recommendations, or would like assistance coordinating testing of alternative devices.

We appreciate your partnership and your prompt attention to this matter.
