Keeping track of tasks during the sales process

How to add and manage tasks on an opportunity to track sales actions.

Tasks on an opportunity let you track the pre-sale actions your team needs to complete before the deal moves forward: site visits, quote preparation, approvals, and similar steps.

Adding tasks to an opportunity

Tasks are managed in the right panel of the Info tab on the opportunity drawer.

To add a task, click the + button in the Tasks panel header. Enter the task name, assign a responsible person, and set a deadline if needed.

Using a task list template

You can apply a task list template to add a set of pre-built tasks in one click. The template fills in the deadlines and assignees for you automatically.

Deadlines and assignees are set automatically based on the template.

Task list templates are set up by the Vantage team. Let us know if you need one for your opportunities.

Tracking task progress

The Tasks panel header shows a progress count (e.g., Tasks 2/5) so you can see at a glance how many tasks are complete. Overdue tasks are shown in red. You can search and filter tasks within the panel to find what you need.

FAQ

Do tasks carry over when an opportunity is converted to a project?

Opportunity tasks stay on the opportunity record. They do not transfer to the project. The project gets its own task list based on the project type template selected during conversion.

Can I add a task without a deadline or assignee?

Yes. The deadline and assignee are both optional on manual tasks. You can leave them blank and fill them in later.
