Using barcodes with inventory

How to use barcodes and photo matching to speed up inventory check-in on site.

Each inventory item has a Barcode field where you can store its barcode or item code. On mobile, your field team can scan the barcode to quickly identify and check in items without typing.

Adding a barcode to an inventory item

  1. Open the event and go to the Inventory tab.

  2. Add a new item or open an existing one.

  3. Enter the barcode in the Barcode field.

  4. Save.

Scanning on mobile

When your field team opens the Inventory tab on the mobile app, they can scan a barcode using their phone camera. Vantage matches the scan to the correct item in the list and opens it ready to check in.

Barcodes are optional. Items without a barcode can still be checked in manually by tapping them in the Inventory tab list.

Photo matching

When checking in an item, your team can attach a photo to verify that what arrived on site matches the item. The photo is saved against the inventory item and is visible from the dashboard. Useful for visual confirmation that the right product or quantity was delivered.
