Price Insights

Price Insights is a new feature in your Vendor Dashboard that gives you data-driven pricing intelligence, powered by our partnership with Google.

Written by The Oblist

How It Works

Through our partnership with Google, we analyze pricing data across the market for products similar to yours. This data is processed daily and displayed directly in your dashboard — no setup or action required on your end.

When insights are available for your products, a **Price Insights** section will appear in your dashboard sidebar and on your main dashboard page.

What's Included

Price Insights contains two tools:

1. Sale Price Suggestions

This tool shows you which products could perform better with an adjusted sale price. For each product, you'll see:

- Your Price — the current price on The Oblist

- Suggested Price — a recommended sale price based on market data

- Predicted Click Increase — how much more visibility your product could get

- Predicted Conversion Increase — how many more sales you could expect

- Impact Rating — High, Medium, or Low — indicating which products would benefit most from a price change

How are suggestions calculated?

Suggestions are generated through advanced simulations based on performance data from the past 7 days. They take into account price elasticity, your product's current performance, and the impact of price changes on similar businesses.

Important: These are predictions, not guarantees. Actual performance may vary based on many factors beyond pricing.

What does Impact Rating mean?

The impact rating combines two factors:

- The predicted performance improvement from adjusting the price

- The difference between your current price and the suggested price

Products rated High are likely to see the strongest improvement. Start with these if you're looking for the biggest impact.

2. Competitive Benchmarks

This tool shows how your prices compare to similar products sold online outside of The Oblist. For each product, you'll see:

- Your Price — the current price on The Oblist

- Benchmark — the average price at which similar products are sold by other businesses

- Position — whether you're above, below, or aligned with the benchmark

What does the benchmark represent?

The benchmark is the average selling price of this product (or very similar products) across other online retailers. It's calculated using real transaction and click data, weighted by customer engagement.

What does Position mean?

- Above — your price is more than 2% higher than the benchmark. This isn't necessarily bad — it may reflect premium positioning, rarity, or unique craftsmanship.

- Aligned — your price is within 2% of the benchmark. You're competitively priced.

- Below — your price is more than 2% lower than the benchmark. You may have room to increase your price without losing competitiveness.

Products With Multiple Variants

If your product has multiple variants (different sizes, colors, materials, etc.), each variant may receive its own suggestion or benchmark. Variants are grouped under the product name with an expandable dropdown — click the arrow to see all variant-level details.

Data Availability

Not all products will have Price Insights. Data availability depends on:

- For Sale Price Suggestions: Google needs enough performance data (impressions, clicks) to predict the impact of a price change. Products with very low traffic may not have suggestions.

- For Competitive Benchmarks: Google needs to find similar or identical products sold by other businesses. Unique, one-of-a-kind, or very niche products may not have a benchmark.

If you don't see insights for your products, it means there isn't enough market data available yet. As more data accumulates, insights will appear automatically — no action needed.

How Often Is the Data Updated?

Price Insights data is refreshed every day at 6:00 AM UTC. Each time you visit the dashboard, you'll see the latest available data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to change my prices?

No. Price Insights are suggestions, not requirements. You always have full control over your pricing strategy. The data is there to inform your decisions, not to dictate them.

Will changing my price immediately show results?

Price changes may take a few days to be reflected in Google's systems. After adjusting a price, allow 7–14 days to see the full impact on your visibility and conversions.

Why don't I see Price Insights in my dashboard?

There are a few possible reasons:

- Your products may not have enough traffic data yet

- Google may not have found comparable products for benchmarking

- The feature is being rolled out progressively

In all cases, insights will appear automatically as more data becomes available.

Can I see insights for specific markets (US, UK, etc.)?

Currently, Price Insights shows data for your primary market (EUR / France). Support for additional markets may be added in the future.

Where does the data come from?

All pricing data is provided through our partnership with Google. It's based on real market data, including pricing from other online retailers and performance metrics from Google's advertising and shopping platforms.
