Markets, currencies, and product prices on The Oblist

This article is about how listing prices and regional markets work for vendors on the platform: what you enter in the dashboard, how non-euro Shopify catalogs are handled, and what buyers typically see.

1. What you set in the vendor dashboard

  1. For each product, you set a base retail price (on the form: Base Price (all markets)* or Reference Price* when variants use their own prices).

  2. Optional: open Advanced pricing by market to set specific amounts per region / market or turn markets on or off for that SKU.

You can combine a EUR reference with hand-set prices per market where the tool allows it. If you do not set a custom price for a market, the storefront stack (Shopify Markets and related price lists) may apply default or converted rules for that region.

2. Shopify vendors: when your store is not in euros

If your connected Shopify store uses USD, GBP, or another currency, Oblist may convert amounts to euros for the Oblist catalogue using exchange rates maintained for the platform (admin-configured rates, not a live interbank ticker on every page view). On import/sync paths, converted amounts are typically rounded up to a whole euro unit.

  • Unsupported currencies may block import until a rate exists—contact vendors@oblist.com.

  • In Shopify Sync Hub, if your store currency is not EUR, you may see the foreign price and a converted EUR figure with the rate used for that display.

3. What customers see on the storefront

Shoppers usually browse through Shopify Markets, so they can see prices in a currency that matches their market when that market is set up that way. The exact number depends on:

  • the customer’s market,

  • whether you set a custom price for that market (Advanced pricing by market), and

  • Shopify behaviour when no custom price is stored (including any automatic market conversion rules on their side).

So: buyers often see familiar currencies, but that is not the same as “Oblist recalculates every price from spot FX at each page load.” It is your prices + market configuration + platform conversion rules where EUR is the internal reference for many vendor flows.

4. Good practices

  1. Keep the base / reference price accurate—it feeds search and reference display.

  2. Use Advanced pricing by market when you need different prices or availability by region.

  3. After import or sync, check a few products in EUR and, if possible, preview another market you care about.

  4. If a converted price looks wrong, send product name or ID, source currency, and a screenshot to vendors@oblist.com.
