Quick method: mark the piece as sold out
This is the fastest way to pause orders on a single piece.
Go to Products in your dashboard and open the piece.
Set its available quantity to 0 and save.
The piece now shows a "Sold Out" label and customers can no longer order it.
It stays on your shop, so buyers still discover it — they just can't purchase until you're ready.
To start selling again, simply set the quantity back above 0.
Pausing only affects new orders. Orders already placed are not cancelled — fulfil them as usual (or reach out to us if you genuinely can't).
Pieces with variants
If your piece has variants (sizes, colours, finishes…), set the quantity of each affected variant to 0. To pause the whole piece, set all of its variants to 0.
Made-to-order pieces
Made-to-order pieces stay available regardless of quantity, so setting the quantity to 0 won't pause them. To pause a made-to-order piece temporarily:
Open the piece and switch it from Made to order to a fixed quantity.
Set the quantity to 0 and save.
Switch it back to Made to order when you're ready to take orders again. If you'd prefer we handle it for you, just reach out.
Pausing your whole shop instead
If you'll be away or need to stop everything (not just one or two pieces), use Holiday Mode instead:
Keep Selling — your pieces stay available and customers see your return date, so orders keep coming in for when you're back.
Pause All — all your pieces are hidden and no new orders can be placed; they come back automatically on your return date.
Use Holiday Mode for breaks or absences; use the Sold Out method above when it's just a specific piece or two.
Good practice
A piece that's unavailable with no explanation can frustrate buyers. When you have an idea of when it'll be back, let The Oblist know — for example by replying to the request you receive from us about that piece — and we'll keep the buyer informed on your behalf. You never contact the buyer directly; everything goes through The Oblist. Then re-open the piece as soon as you can produce again. Clear timing builds trust and saves everyone the back-and-forth.
