The various ways that Vic.ai handles taxes

There are currently three different ways that Vic.ai can handles taxes.

    1. POs with Expense Lines


Expense Lines

The AI will predict a tax amount on an invoice like anything else, it will be an expense line with a predicted GL account and any applicable dimensions.

POs with Expense Lines

Based upon your PO configuration, Tax lines on PO Invoices can be predicted as an expense line.


Tax Codes

For companies utilizing Tax Codes, there will be a predicted Tax Code Dimension found on the expense and item line level. In addition, these fields will be in the user interface.


โ€‹Header-level Tax fields:

  • Total Amount

  • Amount Tax

  • Amount w/o Tax

The formula interplay between these fields is that:
[Total Amount] = [Amount w/o Tax] + [Amount Tax]

Modifying any of the amounts can change the others, as well as adding in expense lines.

Line-level Tax fields:

  • Line Amount

  • Tax Code

  • Amount Tax

  • Amount w/o Tax


Tax Engine

For companies utilizing a Tax Engine, taxes will be predicted at the header level. These fields will be in the user interface.

  • Total Amount

  • Amount Tax

  • Amount w/o Tax

The formula interplay between these fields is that:
[Total Amount] = [Amount w/o Tax] + [Amount Tax]
