Identity Verification
Some hosts may ask travelers to verify their identity by providing a valid government-issued photo ID.
Identity verification helps hosts:
Confirm the identity of the person staying at the property.
Maintain the safety and security of their home or building.
Meet community or property management requirements.
If identity verification is required, the host will provide instructions during the reservation process.
Background Checks
Certain properties—particularly apartment communities, gated communities, or professionally managed buildings—may require a background check before approving a reservation.
If a background check is required, the listing will clearly state this requirement before you book.
When applicable, the host may provide:
A link to complete the background check.
Any documentation or information needed to begin the screening process.
Additional instructions regarding approval requirements.
Background checks are conducted by the host or their designated screening provider, not by Vidle Housing.
Before You Book
We recommend reviewing the property's description and House Rules carefully before submitting your reservation request. If a listing requires identity verification or a background check, those requirements should be disclosed in the listing.
If you have questions about a property's screening requirements, you can contact the host before booking or reach out to our Customer Experience team for assistance.
If you're unsure whether a property requires identity verification or a background check, we're happy to help answer your questions before you book.
