Are Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) Allowed on All Listings?

ESA policies vary by listing — here's how to check if your animal is accepted.

Updated this week

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not automatically accepted at every property on Vidle Housing. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Host Discretion: Each host sets their own ESA and pet policy. Some listings allow ESAs, while others do not. You can check this in the property description or house rules section of the listing.

  • Legal Requirements: Hosts must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws — including Fair Housing regulations. Under the Fair Housing Act, reasonable accommodation may be required for individuals with disabilities who have a valid ESA letter.

  • Documentation: If you have an ESA, you may be asked to submit official documentation — typically an ESA letter from a licensed health professional.
