Strong Odors in the Unit

If you notice a strong or unpleasant odor in your rental, here’s what to do next.

Updated this week

If you notice an unpleasant odor in your unit, we want to help resolve it quickly.

Step 1: Identify the Odor
Take note of what kind of smell you’re experiencing (e.g., smoke, pet, mildew) and where it’s most noticeable.

Step 2: Document the Issue
If possible, take a short video or photo of the area — especially if there’s visible damage or a clear source of the odor (e.g., mold, stained carpet, ashtray).

Step 3: Contact Your Host
Message your host directly to let them know about the odor. They may be able to address it right away by arranging a cleaner, providing an air purifier, or identifying the source.

Step 4: Reach Out to Us
If the issue isn’t resolved after speaking with your host, send us a message through email or chatbox. We’ll review the situation and coordinate with the host to ensure it’s taken care of. Depending on the severity, we can go over other options.

We’re here to ensure your stay is comfortable and safe.
