If you notice a strong or unpleasant odor in your rental, here’s what to do next.

We’re sorry to hear there’s an unpleasant smell in your unit — whether it’s smoke, pet odor, mildew, or something else, we want to make it right.

🔎 Step 1: Identify the Odor
Please note what kind of smell you’re experiencing (e.g., smoke, pet, mildew) and where it’s most noticeable.

📸 Step 2: Document the Issue
If possible, take a short video or photo of the area — especially if there’s visible damage or a source of the odor (e.g., mold, stained carpet, ashtray).

📩 Step 3: Report It Immediately
Send us a message through your Vidle dashboard or this help center. We’ll notify the host right away and work on a resolution — this may include:

  • Sending a cleaner

  • Providing an air purifier

  • Evaluating for relocation or partial refund if conditions are severe
