Smoke or Carbon Monoxide Alarm Issue

What to do if a safety alarm is beeping or missing from your unit.

Updated over 2 months ago

Your safety is our highest priority at Vidle Housing. If a smoke or carbon monoxide (CO) detector is beeping, chirping, or missing entirely, please follow these steps:

🚨 Step 1: Assess the Situation
Let us know:

  • Which alarm is affected (smoke or carbon monoxide)?

  • Where it’s located in the unit?

  • Is it beeping continuously, chirping intermittently, or missing altogether?

🏃 Step 2: Exit if Unsafe
If you smell smoke, gas, or feel unsafe in any way, exit the unit immediately and call local emergency services.

📞 Step 3: We’ll Contact the Host Immediately
We’ll notify the host right away and request urgent servicing or battery replacement. A working alarm is required by platform standards.

🛏️ Step 4: Alternative Arrangements if Needed
If safety cannot be confirmed quickly, we’ll assist with relocation or temporary arrangements.
