This FAQ provides answers to common questions to help you navigate the Visalaw.AI platform more easily.

Updated over 7 months ago
  • How do I link my AILA subscription? Click Settings > Profile > AILA > Provide your AILA membership email and link email.

  • Can a single AILA subscription be shared across multiple user accounts? No, a single AILA subscription cannot be used by multiple accounts simultaneously. If a firm wants multiple users to have access, it should purchase a multi-user subscription, which gives each person their own account. Refer to the AILA website for additional information.

  • How do I delete a subscription for one member? Go to Settings > Organization > Members > Next to the member’s name > click on the 3 dots icon > Remove member button.

Note: The user will lose access to the account immediately.

  • How do I add a new member to my organization? Go to Settings > Organization > Members > Invite members > Enter the email address and click Send Invites

  • As an Admin, is there a limit to how many users I can create on the platform? No, currently there is no limit on the number of users an admin can add to an organization.

  • How do I update my payment method? Click on Settings > Subscription > Under your subscription > Click Checkout

  • What is a Prompt? A prompt is the instruction or question a user gives to an AI system to generate a specific response. It can be a simple request (e.g., “Summarize this contract”) or a more detailed directive (e.g., “Draft a client email explaining the next steps in the immigration process”). In the context of legal work, prompts are used to guide the AI in producing drafts, summaries, explanations, or other useful outputs based on the user's needs.

  • What is the Output? Output refers to the response or result generated by the AI after receiving a prompt. This can include drafted documents, summaries, explanations, checklists, or any other content the AI creates based on the user’s instructions.

  • What is an OTP Code? An OTP (One-Time Password) is a temporary code used to verify your identity during login or secure actions. Sent via text, email, or app, and valid for one-time use only.

  • How long is the OTP code valid for? The OTP code is valid for one (1) hour.

  • Can I reuse the same OTP later? No, OTPs expire shortly after they’re issued. You'll need to request a new one for each login session.

  • Can I use a password instead of an OTP code? No, traditional passwords can be vulnerable—they can be guessed, stolen, or reused across multiple sites, which puts your account at risk. Instead, we use OTP (One-Time Password) codes because they provide stronger security. OTP codes are temporary and valid for just one login or action, making it much harder for unauthorized users to gain access.

  • If I upload a document to my Personal Library, will it be stored permanently?
If you choose to add it to your personal library, it will be saved for reuse. Otherwise, it may only be accessible during your current session. We do not retain your documents permanently. You can download or remove your information from your Personal Library at any time.

  • Will the documents I upload to my Personal Library be seen by other attorneys or law firms, or used to train the AI? No, all materials uploaded to or created within the user’s library are considered confidential and are not accessible to other users, attorneys, or third parties outside the user’s organization.

  • I’m the admin of my organization. If I turn off Drafts for my account, will it affect other users in the organization? Yes, the Drafts setting applies to the entire organization. If it’s turned off, no users will be able to access the Drafts feature until an admin with the right permissions turns it back on.

  • Is the Drafts feature available to all users?
Only users with the appropriate subscription or role permissions will be able to access the Drafts tab. If you don't see it, contact your administrator or customer success manager.

  • I don’t see the option to enable Drafts—how can I access it? Only users with the roles of Owner, Admin, or Draft Admin have the ability to activate the Drafts feature. Check with your organization’s admin to make sure you have the necessary permissions.

  • I’m a paralegal and I don’t have an AILALink account or email —can I still use GEN Core? Yes, you can still use GEN Core, but AILALink-dependent features like direct research links and advanced citation assistance will not be accessible.

  • What’s the difference between my AILA Membership Email and my AILALink Email? Your AILA Membership Email is the one you use to log in to AILA.org. Your AILALink Email can be different and is specifically used to access AILA’s online legal research library at AILALink.org.

  • Why is AILA verification necessary? Verifying your email ensures access to AILA-integrated features inside GEN Core, such as citation tools and legal content only available to active AILA members.

  • How long does it take to complete certified translations? Certified translations are typically completed within 2-3 business days.
