How does VisibleAI benefit students?

VisibleAI brings powerful AI tools right into your assignments by integrating advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) into its easy-to-use editor. This makes it simple for you to use AI as a helpful resource in your work, allowing you to improve your writing, get personalized suggestions, and track your progress. It’s designed to support your learning and make completing assignments more efficient.

Managing My Assignments

Editing My Assignment

To manage assignments, instructors can click on the assignment tile to view a list of student submissions. To edit assignment details, simply click “Edit Assignment.”

In this section, instructors can update the assignment title, course name, objectives, due date, and other key information. Additionally, instructors can adjust the AI Context, which provides background or details to help the AI system respond more accurately to student inputs.

If the Authenticity Score is enabled, instructors can also set an AI policy for the assignment, further supporting academic integrity. More details on the Authenticity Score are provided below.

What is the Authenticity Score and How Does It Work?

The Authenticity Score measures a student’s originality based on the AI policy settings defined by the instructor.

How AI Policy Settings Work

Instructors can set limits on the percentage of AI-generated or pasted content allowed in an assignment. These settings help define clear expectations for student originality.

How the Authenticity Score is Calculated

The score decreases if the percentage of AI-generated or pasted content exceeds the allowed threshold. For example, if a policy allows 20% pasted content and a student submits 25%, the score will decrease to reflect the 5% excess.

Purpose of the Authenticity Score

The Authenticity Score helps instructors understand how much students rely on AI or external content. It provides insights into student work, with the score decreasing from 100% as reliance on such content grows. The goal is to signal when students exceed the set originality expectations.

Note: The Authenticity Score is disabled by default.

List of Student Submissions

The table displays each student's submission for the assignment, along with the creation date and the most recent update date. To view a specific student's submission, simply click on “Details”.

Reviewing Student Submissions

In VisibleAI there are five right sidebar navigation options:

Composition Tab
This tab displays the student’s composition of the assignment, allowing you to view their work as it was written.

Insights Tab

The Insights Tab provides detailed analytics on how students composed their assignment, including:

  • AI Content: The percentage of your assignment that was generated using AI.

  • AI Revised Content: The percentage of content that’s been edited to improve spelling and grammar.

  • Pasted Content: The percentage of content you’ve copied from external sources. If you paste content into VisibleAI, you'll need to provide a comment explaining the source and why it’s relevant.

  • Word Count: The total number of words in your composition.

  • Time Spent: The total time you've spent working on the assignment.

  • Authenticity Score: A tooltip providing additional context on how AI and pasted content impact the originality of your assignment.

  • Max AI/Pasted Percentages: Displays the highest percentage of AI-generated or pasted content within the assignment.

By clicking on different colored text, instructors can view detailed information about how specific content was created. For example, clicking red-highlighted text will show the AI query used by the student, while green-highlighted text will show the student's comment explaining pasted content.

Assignment Details Tab
This tab shows the assignment details set up by the instructor, including course name, objectives, and due dates.

AI Assistant Tab
Here, instructors can see a history of student queries to different AI models, providing insights into how students are using AI in their work.

Comments Tab
This tab shows a history of any comments related to pasted content, making it easy to track external sources used in your work.

History Tab
The History Tab lets instructors and students review previous versions of the document, including analytics like AI Content and Pasted Content, to track progress over time.

Navigation

The navigation bar offers a variety of tools to help you customize your composition, including options to adjust font size, style, alignment, add underlining, bold, italics, and much more to enhance the appearance and formatting of your text.

Data Security & Privacy

Your students' privacy is a top priority. Here's how we ensure their data is protected:

  • Student Data: No student data is used to train AI models.

  • Intellectual Property: All student intellectual property (IP) remains solely owned by the students.

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Student PII is never shared with AI models.

Ability to Create Courses and Assignments & View Course Rosters

Instructors now have the ability to create courses and assignments directly within Kritik. They can also view rosters to ensure accuracy. This allows instructors to better manage their courses and track student participation.

To request roster updates or add a new roster for a course, instructors can reach out via live chat support.
