Map Custom Objects

Geocode custom objects to display on a Map

Updated over 2 months ago

To map custom objects, they first need to be geocoded using the Map Geocoder. Before you can do this, you’ll need to create a custom mapping for the object in the Map Geocoder. When setting up the mapping, you’ll select the object, choose the address fields (Street, City, State, Country, Zip) for mapping, and a geolocation field.

Note: The address fields must have the Text data type.

To map a custom object:

1. Open the App Launcher.

• Search for “Vision-e Maps".

2. Open the Map Geocoder:

• Click on the Vision-e Geocodes tab, or

• Use the Map Geocoder shortcut in the map sidebar.

3. Manage Custom Mappings:

• In the Map Geocoder, click “Manage custom mappings.”

• Then, click “Create a new mapping.”

4. Select Your Custom Object:

• Under the “Object” column, click “Choose” and select the custom object you want to map.

Note: The object’s address fields must be of the “Text” field type, and the object must have a geolocation field.

5. Map the Address and Geolocation Fields.

Note: At this stage, you can map additional custom objects by clicking "Create a new mapping."

6. Save Your Changes:

• Click “Save Changes” once you’ve created the mappings.
• Check the box next to the object and click “Geocode selected objects.”

7. Geocode the Custom Object:

• The custom object will now appear under the standard objects.

8. Download to Salesforce:

• Once the geocoding job is complete, click “Download to Salesforce.”
