Replace Words lets you automatically replace specific phrases when importing text. It is useful for improving readability, or for removing a recurring phrase every time.
Open Import Settings
On the Reading List, tap the Settings button (gear icon), then tap Import Settings.
Tap Replace Words.
Add a rule
Tap + in the top-right corner.
Enter a Phrase and Replacement, then tap Save.
If you leave Replacement empty, you can use it to delete the phrase.
Replace text around the phrase (optional)
From Replace All Around Phrase, you can choose to replace all text after the found phrase, or all text before it.
This option applies only to the first occurrence of the phrase found in the text.
Reorder and delete rules
Rules are applied from top to bottom. To change the priority, tap Edit and drag to reorder.
To delete a rule, swipe left on the rule.
Turn text replacement on or off
When you have replacement rules, an Enable switch appears at the top of the list. Turn it off to temporarily stop applying the rules without deleting them. Import Settings also shows On or Off next to Replace Words.
Notes
To revert a replacement on an already imported item, you need to import the original text again.
Search registered replacement rules
When you have 10 or more registered replacement rules, a search field appears at the top of the list. Enter a phrase or replacement in Search to show only matching rules.
