You can adjust the playback speed from the text screen to match your pace.
Open Speed Adjustment
Tap the Speed button at the far right of the playback controls at the bottom of the screen.
Change Speed with Presets
Tap a preset like 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.5 to quickly switch the speed.
Fine Adjustment Range (Free / Plus)
Use the slider or the − / + buttons to fine-tune in 0.1x steps.
Free plan: up to 1.5x.
Voicepaper Plus: up to 5.0x.
Note: Baseline Speed by Language
You can change the baseline speed for each language from Voice Settings.
On the reading list, tap the Voice button (bottom left) > "Change Voice" > select a language > adjust the "Baseline Speed for this Language" slider.
