Ready to level up?

Whether you're just starting out or it’s been more time since your last Voxy Proficiency Assessment® (VPA®), it’s time to check your progress!

⚠️ Important Note: If you are studying Spanish, French, Italian, or German, your VPA has a unique setup. Please check this article for specific instructions.

To ensure you get the most accurate score and a course personalized just for you, follow these simple tips:

General Success Tips:

  • Start Early: Take the VPA as soon as you join Voxy. Your initial level and personalized content are based on these results.

  • One Sitting: Complete the entire test at once. Frequent stops can lead to lower scores.

  • Find Your Quiet Zone: Pick a silent spot and silence your phone to stay focused.

  • Tech Check: We recommend using Google Chrome on a computer. If you must use a mobile device, open Chrome and enable "Desktop site" mode, as the test cannot be completed within the mobile app.

  • Can’t see the "Start" button? Your zoom might be too high. Press Ctrl and - (or Command ⌘ and - on Mac) to zoom out until the button appears.

  • Can't see the "Next" button during your oral assessment? If you have recorded your first response but the button to advance is not appearing, please follow these technical steps:

    • Use Google Chrome: We recommend using the latest version of Chrome for the best experience.

    • If you are using a tablet or mobile device, please switch your browser to "Desktop Site" mode, as the assessment is optimized for computer view.

Section Tips:

Speaking

  • Stay Present: If you leave after a question starts, you won't be able to hear it again

  • Listen & Think: You’ll hear each question twice, followed by 15 seconds to prepare. Start speaking only when the microphone icon turns blue.

Grammar & Listening

  • Be Honest: This is a placement tool, not a final exam. If you aren't sure, select "I don't know." This ensures your lessons won't be too hard or too easy.

  • Stay Connected: Use a stable internet connection and reliable headphones for the listening portion.

Reading

  • Strategy: Press "Start" and read the question before the text to understand the context.

  • Focus: This is the final stretch—stay focused and keep using the "I don't know" option when necessary.

That’s it! You are ready to go. Good luck!
