Using Vypr - where to start?

We'd like to offer some guidelines that facilitate the process of using Vypr. When you have a brief or project, this is what we recommend in order to make the most out of Vypr:

  1. Based on the brief, note down all the questions that you'd like to ask. Think of possible answers to each question. If you're unsure of which options to use, why not kick off with a Free Text?

  2. When you've come up with the questions you will need to select the steer type you will use. Please read the short description below each option.

  3. The next step is to match your question with the most appropriate steer type. Sometimes your questions on paper may need to be tweaked to provide optimal results on Vypr. When you set off creating a steer, you will see they are example questions provided. We recommend that you select one of these example questions and make small adjustments to it so that your version reflects the concrete scenario.

  4. You may want to consider narrowing down the panel to consumers who would provide the most relevant insight to you. Filtering to particular demographics allows you to target a selected consumer subset, e.g. by age, gender, diet, preferred supermarkets.

  5. Sometimes it's better to target a wider consumer group, rather than filtering to a very specific one. Different segments (although they are different groups of people) may have similar views. Many users want to filter down to e.g. Sainsbury’s consumers as this allows them to tell a better story to the retailer. However, the views of Sainsbury’s shoppers may not differ significantly from those of e.g. Tesco shoppers. That is to say, the opinions of Tesco shoppers can tell us something about the views of Sainsbury’s shoppers. If the views do not differ (the segments are correlated) then it’s better not to apply a filter as this means the sample size will be bigger (and thus the sample error smaller, and the results more accurate). You can always filter this demographic afterwards when the full results are in.
