Often the first step in building a successful strategy is understanding who the consumer is. You might be interested in the age of potential consumers, their gender, preferred retailer, the diet they follow, etc.
β
A Single Answer steer is recommended if the consumer has to pick one option only among a few possibilities. Typically, questions regarding frequency, such as 'How often do you buy this?', 'What is most important when buying xxx?', translate into Single Answer steers. The given options have to be mutually exclusive and conditionally exhaustive.
β
In case your question can have more than one answer, the Multi-answer steer comes in handy. For example, 'Which of these products have you bought in the last month?'.
Demographic filters can be applied to the results of a Single or Multi-answer steer to highlight preferences by region, age, gender, etc. If you'd like to use this segmentation for future projects, you might consider running a private demographic. It would provide a larger response and the possibility for its results to be applied to other steers in the form of demographic filters. Alternatively, these filters can be implemented as conditions when creating a steer.
