How do I follow a walk live?

Watch your pet's walk as it happens: where they are, how long they've been out, and every update.

Here's how to follow your pet's walk live in the Walkies Journal app: where they are, how long they've been out, and every update as it happens.

Follow a walk live

  1. When your pet sitter starts a walk, it appears at the top of Home with Updating live.

  2. Tap it to open the walk.

  3. Watch the map, the time and the updates. New updates, like water breaks and photos, appear as your pet sitter adds them.

  4. Tap the map to open it full screen. Tap Center to bring the walk back into view, and the close button to go back.

When the walk ends, the report shows the whole route, the distance and the time, and Updating live goes.

Opening it from a notification

If you've turned on notifications, you'll get Walk started when the walk begins. Tap it to open the walk straight away. Emails and texts have a View live walk updates link that does the same. See How do I check my notifications?

Good to know

  • Drop-ins, daycare, boarding, pet taxis, training and grooming can be followed the same way, with their own updates.

  • If the map says Live tracking turned off, your pet sitter has chosen to hide the route during walks. The updates and photos still arrive live, and the route appears when the walk ends.

  • If there's no map at all, your pet sitter doesn't record routes. You'll still see the time and every update.

  • You don't get a notification for each update. Open the walk to see them.

  • To react to an update or comment on the walk, see How do I react to an update? and How do I comment on a walk or visit?
